Orange Gum signs joint venture agreement with Kyocera Communication Systems and Innovax Systems
New
company to champion wireless content and solutions
in Asia Pacific

Singapore, 19 March 2003 - Mobile content aggregator Orange Gum Pte Ltd today announced that it has signed an agreement with Kyocera Communication Systems Co., Ltd (KCCS) and Innovax Systems Pte Ltd to form joint venture company Kyocera Communications Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (KCAP).
Based in Singapore, KCAP will provide wireless content and applications, as well as provision of other services such as system, network integration and maintenance, data housing and hosting and other related integration and consultancy services in relation to systems and networks.
"We are extremely delighted with the launch of WebW@lkers - Mobile Internet Content & Data Services for Singapore and the Asia Pacific region. The establishment of our Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore provides strategic access to the region in expanding our operations and technical platform & infrastructure services" said Masafumi Morita, Managing Director of KCAP.
"We are going to work with KCAP very closely to distribute our content such as java games in Singapore and other parts of Asia," said Tan Meng Wee, Deputy Chairman, Orange Gum. "We also believe that we will be co working with KCCS on future wireless system projects for enterprise customers. This is part of our strategy to work with strong partners to expand the wireless market in Asia."
KCAP's WebW@lkers, (www.kcap.net) provides mobile telcos and their subscribers an integral portal with information, content, entertainment and communication services in Singapore and the region. It provides a window to a great lifestyle in real-time with rich colors and sound to various mobile phones. KCAP works with multiple telco operators in Asia Pacific by aggregating leading content providers from Japan and globally and bringing them to market quickly, consistently and efficiently, achieving greater returns on their investments (ROI). WebW@lkers is available to all 3 million subscribers in Singapore, Singtel, MobileOne and Starhub respectively.
KCAP's billing and authentication systems provides efficient content distribution, revenue accounting management and operations. In Japan, KCCS, provides similar services by managing KDDI' s EZ Web portal and its 17.4 million subscribers. KCAP also provides consulting, systems and application development, systems integration and total IT outsourcing services for global enterprises operating in Asia Pacific. As part of the joint venture deal, KCCS is taking a minority stake in Orange Gum as a strategic investor.
